The British Library is an open space for the public to use, free of charge, we host major exhibitions, events talks and lectures as well as holding one of the world’s largest and most diverse research collections comprising of over 250 million items.
Presently in our permanent exhibition gallery we are showing Magnificent Maps: Power and Propaganda and Art until 19 September which presents many large and equally stunning display maps, never seen before by the public. The exhibition is divided into the different settings that these works of art might have been shown, demonstrating that maps are much more than just geography. In the Folio Society gallery, the Viva La Libertad exhibition is being shown until 20 August, which celebrates Latin America’s independence.
Also shown all year round are the Philatelic exhibition; Conservation Uncovered and the Sir John Ritblat Gallery which displays the treasures of the British Library which includes a permanent display of Magna Carta.
