Step inside Museum of London and you will find historic objects which tell the story of the capital’s turbulent past. The Museum overlooks the remains of the city wall, which dates to the time of the Roman Empire, in the oldest part of London known as the City, now the financial area. Here you can discover prehistoric London, see how the city changed under Roman rule, wonder at the grandeur of medieval London and explore the effects of civil war, plague and fire on the capital.

Our spectacular new £20 million Galleries of Modern London are now open, telling the story of London and its people from 1666 to the present day. Three years in the making, five new galleries show how the vibrant and unflagging energy of Londoners has shaped this global city. 7,000 objects and show-stopping interactives transport you through the capital’s tumultuous history.
