For over 200 years the Redoubt has stood ready to defend the Eastbourne coast. Today the fortress is a suitable home to three exciting military collections.
Journey through over 250 years of The Royal Sussex Regiment, from the Battle of Quebec to Monte Cassino in 1944. See the uniforms and medals won and marvel at General von Arnim’s captured German Staff Car.
The Sussex Combined Services collection brings together the story of the Navy, Army and RAF in Sussex. On its 70th Anniversary learn about the importance of the Battle of Britain, and see how the Royal Navy’s Wrens contributed to the war effort.
The Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars collection celebrates the history of the Senior Light Cavalry regiment of the British Army. Live their story from the famous Charge of the Light Brigade, through to the Gulf War in 1990, and the most famous Hussar of all Winston Churchill.
