A visit to this London attraction is an intriguing and fascinating day out to the headquarters of freemasonry in England.
The world class collection of objects, books and documents at the Library and Museum of Freemasonry includes Winston Churchill’s Masonic apron, silver boxes presented to Royal freemasons such as Edward VII and medals designed by artists such as William Hogarth and Archibald Knox. The archives include some of the oldest Masonic documents in the world. In addition, a changing series of exhibitions portray aspects of the history of freemasonry over the last three hundred years.
There are free daily guided tours of the famous Art Deco interior of Freemasons’ Hall built in the 1930s which is both the ceremonial centre of freemasonry and now also the location of many TV programmes and films including Spooks, The Green Zone and Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes.
