Berkeley Castle is a Norman Castle, yet still comfortable as a family home. Visitors can tour Edward II's Cell in the original Keep; travel through Medieval kitchens and the Great Hall, to the more elegant State Apartments. The Castle and Gardens have grown throughout the centuries, and Queen Elizabeth I's bowling green as well as the surrounding sweeping lawns and terraces create wonderful grounds.
This historical attraction is open from Easter to October and throughout the summer there are events and activites for all the family. The Tropical Butterfly House is also open from May to September, where you can enjoy a variety of beautiful butterfly species flying freely in the purpose-built hot house and a fabulous collection of roses in the magical walled garden.
A perfect day out for all the family, including home-made cakes and locally produced ice-creams from the Tea Room, and inspired gifts from the Butterfly House and Castle shops.
