Nottingham’s newest heritage walking tour from the highly successful Nottingham Ghost Walk team! (As seen on BBC TV ‘East Midlands Today’ 04/03/11).
Touring the key sites of interest, you will hear fascinating and intriguing tales of Nottingham’s past, focusing on the principal characters of interest throughout time - Nottingham’s “Heroes and Villains”! And we of course look in detail ‘behind the legend’ of Nottingham's most famous character, ROBIN HOOD! (but is he ‘Hero’ or ‘Villain’?).
Our stories cover the Nottingham Castle area, Brewhouse Yard and the Trip to Jerusalem, the medieval street plan, the old Market Square and Goose Fair, the Lace Market, St Mary’s, the old Shire Hall and more! Nottingham has some very colourful literary connections (Byron, Lawrence, ‘Peter Pan’) which we explore. If you live near Nottingham, you may have visited the City countless times, and yet never really noticed some of the fantastic (and whimsical!) architecture just above the shop fronts! Access permitting, we also visit ancient sandstone caves at The Salutation Inn, and discover the very reason for Nottingham’s existence. Robin Hood is associated with many locations in the City and his tales are woven around those of our other ‘Heroes and Villains’.
Our Guides are in costume and all our Tours are run with the flair and style we have made our own on the Nottingham Ghost Walk. The Heroes & Villains Tour takes 1½ - 2 hours and we (gently) walk about 2 miles.
