18th July - 6th September

Great news – Kids Go Free on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway this summer, and the school holiday savings mean better value fares for the whole family.

With events and activities stretching along the line from Pickering all the way through to Grosmont and travel through to the seaside town of Whitby, there’s never been a better time to make a day of it.

Set off on an adventure with our self-led Discover Your Heroes Ticket Trail, unleash your imagination at Goathland’s Story Creation Station, or enjoy free family activities including Stay & Play sessions and Station Storytime.

Free Fun Along the Line
Hunt down Railway Heroes with our self-led Ticket Trail across Pickering, Goathland and Grosmont, or unleash your inner storyteller at Goathland’s Story Creation Station. Little ones under five can enjoy themed Stay & Play sessions at Pickering on the first Wednesday of every month or enjoy a free Station Storytime on 30 July.

Calling All Young Engineers
Budding engineers can take on bridge-building challenges inspired by the film star engine Tornado (27 – 30 July) and the famous inventor Isambard Kingdom Brunel, drop in for Tiny Engine Tuesdays and Train Track Thursdays every week in August, or book a place at our ticketed Build Like Brunel Workshop on 12 and 26 August. There’s something to keep every young explorer busy this summer.
