Journey through over 400 years of history to reveal the secrets of Astley Hall, one of the most intriguing historic houses in the North West.
This surprising building features some of the most breath-taking mid-17th century plaster ceilings in the country, rare painted panelling and very fine English oak furniture.
Our friendly and knowledgeable staff are always on hand to answer questions and tell you all they know about this fascinating building and the families who once called it home. Open from April – December to the public and welcoming day trippers, groups, families and coach visits, there’s something for all to discover at Astley Hall.
Within acres of stunning parkland at Astley you’ll find a fantastic variety of ways to spend a day. Kids can explore and play on the Royalists Retreat and toddler playgrounds, then encounter some furry, feathered or scaly friends at pets corner! For all ages, why not take advantage of our tennis courts, bowling greens or football pitches for some active fun. Immerse yourself in nature by venturing along one of our woodland trails, looking and listening out for wildlife amongst the trees.
Once you’ve explored every inch of the park, why not drop by our Coach House to refresh with a drink and bite to eat at Café Ambio? Featuring a menu of lunchtime favourites and daily specials, there’s something to please every appetite. Upstairs in the Coach House, our Gallery is home to a wide variety of exhibitions throughout the year. You can also find a selection of locally made and branded gifts, and purchase your tickets for entry to Astley Hall at our Astley Museum Shop.
Over in the Farmhouse, Barrica in the Park is well worth a visit to find a wonderful array of artisan goods, from wines, beers, spirits and food to handmade products from local creatives including ceramics, glass and woodcrafts. In the wonderful surroundings of the Hall’s Walled Garden, discover an interesting assortment of plants, flowers and home grown fruits and vegetables.
