On the banks of the Beaulieu River, in the heart of the New Forest, you will find the unspoilt haven of Buckler’s Hard which remains untouched by the passage of time. This 18th century shipbuilding village is steeped in history from its beginnings in the 13th century when owned by the Cistercian monks, to its time as a shipyard where boats for Nelson’s Navy were built. Discover its stories in the Museum and reconstructed cottage displays.

The Buckler’s Hard village is free to enter and includes access to the Shipwright’s Cottage, St Mary’s Chapel, the Agamemnon Exhibition in the Shipwright’s Workshop, The Captain’s Table and Master Builder’s House Hotel.

For those arriving by vehicle, a parking charge applies, which helps us maintain this special heritage site.

To enhance your visit and learn more about the special heritage of Buckler’s Hard, you have the option to pay a small admission charge to explore the Museum or enjoy the River Cruise.

Museum tickets can be purchased on arrival, and tickets for the River Cruise are purchased when boarding the boat.
