Eden Camp Modern History Museum sits on the site of an original World War Two Prisoner of War camp just outside Malton, North Yorkshire — one of the few such sites still standing in Britain.
Across 22 preserved huts, visitors move chronologically through the war years and beyond, from the rise of Hitler and the outbreak of war through the Blitz, rationing and the Home Front, to VE and VJ Day and Britain’s later 20th-century conflicts.
Each hut uses recreated scenes, authentic sounds and period detail to put visitors right in the moment, rather than simply reading about it.
Outside the huts, explore a large collection of tanks and military vehicles, the Dig for Victory vegetable garden, and a 1940s prefab.
It's a full day out — most visitors allow 3–4 hours — with a gift shop, on-site cafés, free parking for cars and coaches, and a warm welcome for dogs.
