Gainsborough’s House

Gainsborough's House in Sudbury, Suffolk is the birthplace museum of Thomas Gainsborough, RA (1727–1788), one of England’s most important 18th-century artists.

The museum's collection encompasses Gainsborough's entire career, from early portraits and landscape scenes painted in Suffolk in the 1750s, to the artist’s later works from his London period of the 1770s and 1780s. A varied programme of six changing exhibitions featuring both historic and contemporary art runs throughout the year, in addition to an exciting schedule of lectures, tours and events.
