King Richard III Visitor Centre

Dynasty Death and Discovery

Using great storytelling, beautiful design and 21st century technology, the centre tells the incredible story of the king’s life and death, and the discovery of his remains in a Leicester car park.

This unique story is told in three parts:
Dynasty: Our incredible story begins as we take you back to a medieval England, racked by decades of turbulence and fighting in the Wars Of The Roses. Discover the story behind Richard’s rise to power and find out how the last king from the great house of Plantagenet made law reforms still relevant today. You can also decide for yourself what happened to the Princes in the Tower.
Death: Hear the thunder of hooves and the rallying war cries in the thick of medieval warfare as you are transported back to the Battle of Bosworth. Identify the people who betrayed Richard and how their treacherous actions lead to him being cut down in battle while defending his crown.
Discovery: The astonishing story of the research, archaeology, science and analysis carried out to detect, discover and identify the long-lost remains of the king is told. No visit is complete without seeing where King Richard was buried for over 500 years, preserved now in a quiet, respectful setting.
Based right in the city centre, the Visitor Centre is a great attraction for the whole family to enjoy, whatever the weather.
