Panacea Museum

11, Newnham Road, Bedford, Bedfordshire, MK40 3NX

Discover the amazing story of a unique religious community.

This museum tells the story of the Panacea Society, a Christian group formed in the early twentieth century who created their own ‘Garden of Eden’ in the centre of Bedford.
The Panacea Museum is located across several Victorian buildings that formed the community’s headquarters. It tells the story of the Society and other similar religious groups.

From this headquarters, the Society operated a religious organisation which reached across the world. Over two thousand people became members of the Panacea Society, in Europe, North America and many parts of the British Empire and Commonwealth.
