Six world-class dramas and two blockbuster musicals – in the heart of Scotland.
Pitlochry Festival Theatre
Pitlochry Festival Theatre (PFT) sits right in the centre of Scotland, a dynamic heartland where visitors can expect theatre that is joyful, entertaining, reflective, ambitious and diverse.
A visit to Pitlochry presents a unique theatrical experience. No other UK theatre attempts the extraordinary turnover of plays, which we create and perform from May to December. You have to look as far away as Canada to find anything remotely similar!
The new 6-show repertory season opens in May with the production of Summer Holiday, followed on 6 June by Noël Coward's Blithe Spirit, Blonde Bombshells Of 1943 a week later and The Crucible a week after that, 20 June. Heritage by Nicola McCartney opens in July and then the world première of Elizabeth Gaskell's North And South in August, until they have six productions performing in parallel from the same ensemble.
The 17-strong professional, Season company are selected from across the UK. The versatility and talent demanded to perform 3 or 4 shows - swapping character from day to day and afternoon to evening - in a range of genres, eras, accents, plus vocal and dance excellence, in 9 performances each week by the end of the summer, is quite amazing.
And that’s not all: there’s an Autumn production and renowned Festive Musical, plus a plethora of other events and activities taking place throughout the year, from comedy and concerts to tours and talks, plus food, the stunning Explorers Garden, as well as a little retail therapy.
So, make sure you experience Pitlochry this year. After all, life’s better with a bit of drama in it. Not to mention music, dance, romance, laughter. . .
