It offers a fascinating insight into the story of Walsall's historic leatherworking trade. In the atmospheric workshops, skilled leatherworkers can be seen handcrafting leathergoods such as wallets and purses, and visitors are able to try their hand at this. The adjacent displays tell the story of the Walsall trades and feature splendid examples of local craftsmanship past and present, including saddles made for the Royal family and exciting contemporary designs.
Regular guided tours and demonstrations are available and there is a lively programme of events and activities, including changing exhibitions. The museum is set in beautiful gardens and has an attractive cafe and shop selling Walsall-made leathergoods.
