Cinderella at The Bristol Hippodrome in the running to be crowned Britain’s best pantomime!
The Bristol Hippodrome is delighted to announce its 2018-2019 pantomime, Cinderella, has been nominated for the top prize at the Great British Pantomime Awards 2019.
Cinderella was the theatre’s most successful pantomime to date and starred comedy legend Brian Conley as Buttons, with TV fashion guru and all-round superstar Gok Wan winning audiences’ hearts as The Fairy Gokmother.
Supported by a fabulous cast and ensemble, the duo brought the house down at The Bristol Hippodrome during the production’s month-long run. The production broke The Bristol Hippodrome’s previous box office record for pantomime sales and earned a string of outstanding reviews from national and regional critics and bloggers.
The hard work of everyone involved in Cinderella has now been recognised by judges at the Great British Pantomime Awards, who have nominated Cinderella at The Bristol Hippodrome as a finalist in the ‘Pantomime Of The Year – venues over 1,500 seats’ category in the 2019 awards.
The praise for Cinderella – produced by the world’s biggest pantomime producer QDOS Entertainment – doesn’t stop with one nomination, however, as show director Kathryn Rooney has also been nominated in the Best Director category.
The Great British Pantomime Awards celebrate the best in professional pantomime productions across the UK. The final winners will be announced at a ceremony taking place at the New Wimbledon Theatre in London on April 28th 2019.
Jenny Hutchinson, Theatre Director at The Bristol Hippodrome, said: “Everyone here at The Bristol Hippodrome is delighted about both of these nominations and feel they are thoroughly deserved. “Cinderella won rave reviews from critics and members of the public alike and we are extremely proud to have hosted such a wonderful production. “Our audiences told us what a special show we had this year, which has now been echoed by recognition from the prestigious Great British Pantomime Awards. We are so fortunate to be able to host so many incredible productions year on year.”
