Trump named the Grinch of 2018
With the season of goodwill upon us Madame Tussauds London has today revealed the results of its Christmas survey. Charting the celebrities the UK would most like the spend the festivities with, as well as those who are heading straight to the top of Father Christmas’s naughty list, the results feature famous faces from the worlds of politics, royalty, film and music.
Unsurprisingly, it’s not been a favourable year for politicians, with Boris Johnson, Theresa May and Nigel Farage all making the top five of who Britons think deserve a lump of coal for Christmas. However an overwhelming 53% of Britons placed President Donald Trump at the top of the list, making him the ultimate Grinch of 2018.
On the flipside, Prince Harry has warmed the nation’s hearts this year with 15% of the UK voting him the star at the top of the Christmas tree. His new wife just missed out on the top five, beaten by Strictly stars Stacey Dooley and Claudia Winkleman as well as fellow royalty, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Those looking for an alternative Christmas message would change the channel to watch Prince Harry reflect on the previous year, with nearly 20% of the vote. Proving the nation’s eclectic taste, runners-up included The Dalai Llama, James Corden and Adele – all likely to provide a very different outlook.
Equally diverse is the group of carol singers that Britons would like to open their doors to. With Freddie Mercury, Ed Sheeran, Adele, David Bowie and Elton John all featuring in the top ten, the only question is, which Christmas classic would they choose to sing?
