A Midsummer Night’s Dream-themed ball at Blenheim Palace has raised more than £12,000 for their staff-nominated charity – Maggie’s Oxford Centre.

The ball, which was held in the Palace’s Orangery on September 7th, featured live music and an auction; with lots including a signed Radiohead album, a private tour of Westminster Abbey and tickets for Nocturne Live at Blenheim Palace.

Throughout 2017 staff from the UNESCO World Heritage Site have been taking on challenges and organising events to fundraise for the Maggie’s, which is their official charity of the year.

Blenheim Palace has been awarded the highly regarded VisitEngland Quality Assured Visitor Attraction. The accreditation offers prospective visitors from all over the world the reassurance of an official endorsement of high quality and showcases the UNESCO World Heritage Site’s tireless commitment to excellence.

With scores of more than 80% in each category, judges found Blenheim Palace to have a 100% score in its Retail Category and an impressive 93% score in the Attraction Category.

Betteshanger Park and MY/PT have joined forces to launch a new extreme event for Kent this autumn. SURVIVAL, Kent’s newest obstacle course race, will take place at the former colliery site, near Deal, on Saturday, October 7th. 
 
The 6km race will see competitors braving the elements as they crawl, swim, dip, dodge and dive through 40 extreme man-made and natural obstacles spread across the unpredictable terrain of the old spoil heap at Betteshanger.

Madame Tussauds London this week announced the commission of a new wax figure of the recently appointed Prime Minister and Conservative party leader, Theresa May. These exclusive images show the first stages of the process of creating the wax figure, where the head is moulded in clay before the wax mould is formed.

Blenheim Palace has announced it has raised in excess of £200,000 in Gift Aid so far this year.
 
The UNESCO World Heritage Site and birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, was officially designated as a charity in January.
 
Its new status has allowed Blenheim Palace to operate the Gift Aid scheme which enables charities to claim back income tax on donations made by visitors who are also UK taxpayers.

The Kent Mining Museum, due to open at Betteshanger Park near Deal in 2018, have become custodians of over 500 artefacts relating to the history of the Kent Coalfield.
 
The new collection, on loan from Dover Museum, includes mining workwear, signage, equipment and ephemera and will form part of the Museum displays and its research archive. Items of significance include the Snowdown Colliery plant book, offering a valuable glimpse into the working methods of the pit in its early years,

Blenheim Palace’s unique collection of historical documents and artefacts has been transferred to a new, repurposed archive.
 
Split across three rooms and two floors, the newly renovated facilities are temperature and humidity controlled; providing a stable environment for thousands of objects and documents dating back centuries.
 
The move, which was carried out over five days by Blenheim Palace staff, is part of the Estate’s £40m restoration programme which will also see them re-acquiring key lost works.

Today, Madame Tussauds London unveiled its brand new immersive Alien: Escape experience, set to terrify willing guests this summer. Generations have watched the iconic film franchise and now, thanks to the London attraction, brave wannabe crew members can step on board the Covenant ship and come face to face with the Xenomorph opening Saturday 15th July.
